Favourites

I don't add pieces to my favorites to avoid the complexities of commenting. I add pieces to my favorites when something about them truly moves me. If your work is here, then the reason is simple: It's one of my favorites.

Watchers

" like Isaiah, who was sawed with a saw, (and) he became two. So also the Son of Man divides us by the word of the cross. It divides the day from the night and the light from the darkness and the corruptible from incorruptibility, and it divides the males from the females. But Isaiah is the type of the body. The saw is the word of the Son of Man, which separates us from the error of the angels." - The Testimony of Truth

I'd never read any of this when I first chose my first online name, cHaiNsAw, all those years ago. It was indeed a strange thing to encounter a description of the river Jordan (my real name) and a reference to the saw being the word of the Lord. Perhaps it is only a late explanation for the symbolism behind Christ being a carpenter, but even still, I'm still not entirely sure why I chose that as a name. I could have chosen anything, and I chose an obscure reference to movies and video games where you use a chainsaw to fight demons?

And what drove me to use my current name, Nawsachi, an anagram of a name I hadn't used in years before having read these texts? I remember I said something like "The more things change, the more they stay the same" but I may have been wrong.

Hey~~

Just wanted to thank you for the fave!

Also, since I'm currently focusing on music, I was wondering if you'd be interested in listening/sharing my music?

If you are, I can link you to where you can find that stuff!

Well, okay. So, the name I used on everything when I first got the internet was cHaiNsAw. I didn't really have a reason for the capitalization, it just looked aesthetically pleasing to me.

The reason I chose a chainsaw as a symbol is almost like how Batman chose a symbol. I hated that we use tools to destroy nature. I hated that our own "progress" could destroy ACTUAL progress. But there was a personal touch, and this is what fueled it. I noticed in several games and movies, people using a chainsaw to fight demons and zombies.

DooM, DooM 2, Final DooM. Evil Dead 2. Army of Darkness. Silent Hill 1, 2, and 4.  And some others I can't think of at the moment. (and oddly enough, several others since then like Gears of War and, potentially, Fallout: New Vegas) There was something I loved about the idea of using machinery to fight evil. It's just an idea that stuck in my head since I was 15 or 16. Using something used to destroy nature (which is "holy" to me) against those who wish to destroy nature (which is evil to me, just as bad as demons, or zombies which are "unnatural")

This is the coolest thing I have ever learned about you. Thank you so much for sharing with me. I realize that how we pick our names is incredibly personal, so that just makes me even more appreciative that you told me.

Also, the symbolism there is off the charts in such an amazing way. Awesome.

Thank you for answering me. I've wondered several times.

And yeah I figured I'd cut the bullshit and just give a straight answer, hence the edit  >_>

You could have given me the runaround, but I'm glad you didn't. Picking our names is such a personal thing that I almost thought you might not answer. Thanks.

I actually didn't do the X myself (though I could have) I just used to promotional "X-Yourself" app from Facebook when Days of Future Past came out. The X does have a lot of interesting non-comics-related symbolism though. Like the Charles Manson thing where they carved an X in their head to mark themselves as separate from the rest of society  >_>  X is also the Greek letter pronounced "chi," which is also part of my new name. Funny thing is, I didn't originally plan that. Chi is the Eastern idea of a life force or spirit-energy, and it's thought by some that that term evolved from, or was borrowed from the Greek pronunciation of X, "chi." And of course it's also the Roman numeral for ten.

All of that, just 'cause I thought it was sexy.

(am I allowed to say that, now that I'm kinda single?)

I saw your journal, just didn't know what to say. Sometimes endings are new beginnings, sometimes they aren't endings at all but are just part one of a continuing story with the same person. I'm sure you know how (or if) that applies to you better than I do, I just mean in general. Also, thank you, and of course you're free to speak your mind.

I actually really like the new lyrical style of your poems. I feel like you could be incredibly successful with that, if you found a musician or band to adopt them, or just got into writing musical poetry in general. Seriously, you're incredibly gifted.
